Update: Justice Served!

18 02 2007

Update:
In a previous post, Public Enemy No. 1, I submitted a rap sheet for a cat that I’ve dreamt of killing for a long time. Well, it looks like someone beat me to the punch!

When I went to get the mail the other day, I saw a “Lost” sign for him! He’s lost! With any luck he’s dead!!!! This is a cat who knows which car is mine and knows to pee on it when I chase him away with my Nalgene bottle! Rejoice, apartment residents, we are free from this tyrant!

Latest Verbal Diarrhea From Hillary “Godzillary” Clinton

6 02 2007

In response to a post at What the Crap? I myself have decided to take up the discussion of the latest absurdities that Godzillary Clinton has spewed forth.

Quote Godzillary:

“The other day the oil companies reported the highest profits in the history of the world. I want to take those profits and I want to put them into a strategic energy fund that will begin to fund alternative smart energy alternatives and technologies that will begin to actually move us toward the direction of independence…”

Most importantly and most critically at stake is her assumption that she, or anyone in government, has any right at all to “take” money from a private company and use it in any way at all–but especially to fund a company’s competitors.

People who would support Godzillary’s plan must ask themselves if they, too, are willing to allow the government to take at will the profits of their own private companies and organizations.

Can people not make the logical connection that this usurpation of private industry profits would be a slippery slope leading to the logical destination of a socialist welfare state? My sad conclusion is that people will fall into 1 of 2 camps in response to these questions. Either they will 1: Make the connection and rejoice (years of sustaining and attitude of entitlement combine to make people inclined to believe the government does, indeed, exist to satisfy their every need and whim) or 2: Recognize this as yet another indication of the blatantly radical, socialist-leaning ideology that has engulfed the American left.

Whether or not Godzillary, or anyone else for that matter, *likes* the oil companies has no bearing on the fact that

1) there is a HUGE worldwide demand (and dependence) on oil as a product,

2) people are clearly willing to pay for this product and

3) the government does NOT have any right, constitutionally or otherwise, to take profits from the oil companies (or ANY private company) and effectively put them out of business via giving their profits to would-be competitors.

Speaking of alternative energy sources:
It should be noted that conservatives are NOT against developing and researching alternative energy sources. Even your everyday idiot understand that oil wells will not last forever. However, what conservatives understand and what the oil-haters don’t (Note: I did not say what “liberals” don’t, because indeed there are liberals who grasp basic economic concepts) is as follows:

Economically, the only way for alternative energy sources to thrive in a free market is for them to produce a product that is cost-competitive and efficient enough to compete with oil. They also must be cost-effective enough or have a perceived value high enough that consumers can and will pay for them.

If Godzillary were to succed in her unlawful plan to steal oil company profits and use them to finance the development of alternative energy sources, she would only be artifically making those alternative energy sources financially and economically viable. For those who do not see a problem with doing this (and yes, there are people out there who rationalize things like stealing and putting millions of workers out of work because they think it’s for some higher cause), consider: If Hillary Godzillary were to effectively put the oil companies out of business, they would no longer exist to inflate the earnings of the would-be alternative energy companies, and those very companies she wanted to “help” would tank because no one would be able to pay for their products. This would create an energy crisis like the world has never seen.

Points to consider: Hillary is a socialist America-hater who wants to see the oil companies tank, who wants the destruction of the free market (though she’d never admit it!), and who probably wishes we’d all fulfill the socialist pipe dream of a utopian, agrarian society. What better way than this to accomplish her goals?
